I’ve had a stressful few days trying to work on my laptop which keeps shutting down without warning so I’ve bought a new laptop this afternoon. Didn’t want to do it but I can’t cope with the uncertainty of not knowing when it was going to shut down…. it’s amazing how dependent we become on technology and how quickly it can impact on our lives when it goes wrong.
As children we made our own entertainment, going off to play all sorts of games in the fields where we lived. Life seemed so much more outdoor-sy then but technology has overtaken play-time for lots of youngsters.
Creative subjects like Home economics, crafts and sewing was part of the curriculum, but sadly less so now. I loved Cookery lessons and lived for my Needlework lessons every week. I think practical lessons would benefit children for the future and open up more opportunities for their lives after education.
With sewing making a comeback promoted by The Sewing Bee TV show, lets hope that more people learn to make for themselves and have pride in their creations.
Anyway, off to taunt my naughty laptop with the new, faster, and more stylish ‘kid on the block’…………..that’ll teach it for messing with me…heeheeheehee
